Butterfly Valve
A butterfly valve is a type of valve that is categorized as a quarter-turn valve due to it being fully open or closed when the disc is rotated a quarter turn. Commonly found on all different types of ships, butterfly valves are used for large capacity lines such lines from tanks to their pumps and as sea water suction lines.
Generally speaking, butterfly valves operate at lower pressures and temperatures than ball valves which can handle high temperatures and pressures.
