The line crossing ceremony is a long-standing naval tradition that marks a sailor’s first crossing of the Equator. During this rite of passage, experienced sailors (often called Shellbacks) initiate the novices (known as Pollywogs) through playful, theatrical rituals that symbolize their transformation.
